No jail time in attempted killing
The Globe and Mail
Wednesday, December 1, 1999A woman who tried to kill her disabled six-year-old daughter with a cocktail of prescription drugs will not spend any time in jail.
Instead, Lisa Thompson, of Niagara Falls, Ont., will serve her conditional sentence of two years less a day in the community.
Ms. Thompson pleaded guilty in September to attempted murder.
The 37-year-old woman was described as a loving mother who devoted her life to looking after her four children -- but snapped under tremendous pressure.
