Woman charged with murder in boyfriend's slaying

By DEREK ABMA, Ottawa Sun

An Ottawa woman has been charged in connection with the Windsor murder of her boyfriend.

Windsor police said yesterday they had charged 20-year-old Victoria Wynter Gil with second-degree murder.

Her boyfriend, 20-year-old Thomas Jamieson of Ottawa, was found dead in a Windsor motel room March 2. The cause of death was determined to be a single stab wound to the chest.

Both Gil and Jamieson had been wanted in connection with the Feb. 17 beating and robbery of a 26-year-old man on Bell St. S. in Ottawa. Police said the beaten man was lured to the area by a woman he met on a telephone chat line and was then assaulted by three men.

2 MEN IN CUSTODY

Gil was arrested in Ottawa in connection with the Bell St. incident the day after Jamieson was found dead. Two other men had already been taken into custody in connection with the beating.

Gil was identified as a "person of interest" by Windsor police soon after Jamieson was found dead.

Staff Sgt. Ed McNorton of the Windsor police said the hope is to get Gil back to that city as soon as possible to answer the murder charge. He said he's not sure when that will happen, and it depends on how it can be accommodated in light of the charges she faces in Ottawa.

A year before the Bell St. assault, Gil was charged with aggravated assault for stabbing Jamieson in the chest, arms and legs -- also in Windsor. She was acquitted after claiming she acted in self-defence.
