More charges in cop abuse caseBy JONATHAN JENKINS, TORONTO SUN
The common-law wife of a former Toronto cop -- already facing charges of elder abuse -- has now been charged with allegedly contacting a witness in her case, York Region police said yesterday.
The Georgina woman was originally charged in December with failing to provide the necessities of life after paramedics found Steven Peacock in wretched conditions. The 76-year-old, a retired veteran of the Toronto Police force, weighed only 85 pounds and had been locked in a basement room where a bucket served as his toilet.
Her son told reporters his mother had been caring for Peacock for more than a decade as Alzheimer's robbed him of his faculties and he was increasingly difficult to manage.
York police said the woman made a court appearance on the original charge Jan. 8 and was arrested a week later after allegedly contacting a witness in the case.
Ranka Bogojevic, 49, has been charged with criminal harassment and attempting to obstruct justice.
