An "unfortunate circumstance" led police to the wrong house when responding to a 911 call that ended in the murder-suicide of a Pickering, Ont., couple, an inquest into their deaths heard yesterday.

Before police arrived at the correct home in the community east of Toronto, a distraught neighbour described the horrific scene that had just played out before her eyes in a 911 call.

Police had pulled into the driveway of a house with the same number as the Hadley's but on an adjoining street. By the time they reached the Hadley home, the situation was out of control.
